"The Child and the Spells”
An offer for children consisting of a sensational opera by Maurice Ravel "The Child and the Spells” with the libretto by Colette, which introduces us to a land of real magic. It tells a story of a spoiled child who, locked in a room, gives a show of the anger. A live armchair, clock, fire and a beautiful princess talk to him reproaching for the bad behaviour. The heroes move in a marvelous way to a magic garden, where they meet talking animals. After those experiences, the child starts to look differently at the surrounding world and, as it happens in a fairy-tale, the world around changes rapidly.
"The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”
The second part of the fairy-tale ballet story is filled by Paul Dukas’s "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” based on a ballad by the most eminent German Romantic poet J. W. Goethe. The work, written in a light and humorous style, tells a story of a sorcerer’s apprentice, who wants to test his power while his master is away. He enchants a broomstick to carry water for him. When there is enough water, it turns out that the apprencice had forgotten the spell. Despairing, he splits the broom with an axe, but instead of stopping the broom to fetch the water, now there are two of them. The water begins to fill the Opera...., luckily, the return of the sorcerer saves us from being flooded. Phew ...!
