The second part of the season of 2011/2012 (January – June 2012) will be abundant in interesting musical-theatrical events. It will be crowned by us in May with the premiere of the opera of Giacomo Puccinni ”Madame Butterfly”, which will return into our repertoire thirty years after having been presented at the stage in the Castle for the first time. The operetta of all times, ”The Bat” of Johann Strauss, will confirm its extraordinary popularity by means of its being staged in Szczecin for the fourth time already. Perhaps, not a single piece of music has been presented by us so frequently!
From among the titles the premieres of which took place in the preceding seasons, ”The Marriage of Figaro” of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the masterpiece of bel canto, ”The Sleepwalker” of Vincenzo Bellini, as well as the operetta of Emmerich Kálmán ”The Csárdás Princess”, will be presented again. Our ballet ensemble will present ”The Wayward Daughter” and also performances for children: ”Cinderella” and ”The Nutcracker”. The youngest members of the audience will have an opportunity to enjoy Mozart’s ”The Magic Flute”, adopted into a fairy tale titled ”In the Land of the Magic Flute” with them in mind.
Two times will our ensemble perform in the Garrison Church, presenting the most beautiful carols and ”Little Solemn Mass” of Gioacchino Rossini. One more time, we will set off on a foreign tour with ”Fidelio” of Ludwig van Beethoven and also with ”The Sleepwalker”.
As it is the case every year, we will be hosting an international ballet competition Złote Pointy on our stage. Performances prepared by artistic agents will also be held.
We hope that out artistic offer is very varied, and that you will find something suiting your taste in it. I wish you a lot of emotional experiences, but also the feeling that the time spent at the Opera House of Szczecin, always hospitable for its audience, was a worthwhile experience.
